About DISP
The Department of International Services and Programs (DISP),
as a part of the Office of International Affairs, aims to
serve the international interests of the University community
through the development and delivery of support services and
programs designed to promote cross-cultural awareness while
assisting with the academic and cultural adjustment and personal
growth of its constituents.
Our major goals are to:
- Provide for the daily advisory needs of international students, faculty, and staff;
- Provide an on-going orientation to international students, visiting scholars, and H visa holders;
- Facilitate cross-cultural adjustment between and among UConn students of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds, and;
- Promote greater internationalization of the campus.
The DISP office represents an International Center and as such, its facilities include a lounge area, TV and DVD player, kitchen, and a game room with ping pong and foozeball tables. The lounge area may be used for social programming and study use, while also providing an ideal meeting place for U.S. and international community members.
See our most recent Annual Report.
Advisors counsel international students and scholars on a variety of nonimmigrant visas as well as on educational, employment, cultural, financial and personal matters affecting their stay while in the US. Counseling services are provided by International Advisors by appointment or on a walk-in basis.
